Balloon Flights in Scotland

Hot Air Balloon Flights Over Scotland from Edinburgh and Perth

Due to Scotland's challenging geography and perhaps less clement weather there are not many operators who offer hot air balloon rides in Scotland.

Meadows and Arthurs Seat
You can fly over the picturesque Lothian and Borders countryside to the south of Edinburgh with Alba Ballooning . On a typical balloon flight over this part of Scotland you might fly over the Moorfoot Hills or the rural landscape of Midlothian with its picturesque villages, castles and reservoirs. The launch site chosen on the day will be determined by wind direction and speed to provide you with the best views.

West Lomond Hill viewed from Balado
Alba also provide balloon rides slightly further north from Kinrosshire from locations close to Perth. Most of these hot air balloon rides will take off from Balado or the Bridge of Earn just south of Perth. The Ochil Hills, Loch Levin, Perth or Kinross are likely views from your balloon basket during the flight.

Floors Castle near Kelso
Further south a slightly less frequent balloon flight schedule is offered by Alba Ballooning over the hilly landscape around the Scottish Borders. Flights commence from St Boswells, not far from the towns of Melrose, with its famous abbey ruins and Kelso with the equally well known Floors Castle. The River Tweed is never far from view as you drift silently along, apart that is from the occasional blast of the hot air balloon burners by your capable pilot.
