Here the gas balloon is ready for inflation with the envelope laid out and just rising as the first of the hydrogen gas is driven in from the gas main pressure. You can see the trail rope hanging from the side of the basket. This is deployed on landing depending on the wind speed to slow the balloon up by friction and to counterbalance the bouyancy of the balloon by transferring mass from the balloon assembly to the ground.
